It’s almost the end of March and I’ve read almost 21 books. I’m currently reading The House Across the Lake (which can’t make this list since I’m not done yet, but it’s getting good). Most have been thrillers, with a sprinkle of romance and fantasy. I’ve read ones with crazy plot twists and others that failed at being suspenseful. If you’ve followed my blog (or my social channels), you have an idea at which books will be on this list.
As I continue reading more books throughout the year, I will be updating this list quarterly to see if there are any significant changes. If you’re looking to read more thrillers this year, this is the post you need to read—most of my picks are available now on Kindle Unlimited.
Now without further ado, here are my top 5 thrillers of 2025…so far:
5. Rock, Paper, Scissors
Okay, so there are mixed reviews about this book but I really enjoyed the audiobook. It was so well done! There are multiple narrators with their POVs and with the past and present timelines. In Rock, Paper, Scissors, we follow this couple on their vacation to save their marriage. Their relationship has had many downs with some ups but, unfortunately for them, some secrets cannot stay hidden away. I was at work when they revealed the twist and I heard myself audibly gasp. Luckily, no one heard me (or they just didn’t want to ask me what happened).
4. Home is Where the Bodies Are
Like I mentioned in my blog post about this book, I was not a huge fan of the author, Jeneva Rose. After reading a couple of her books and rating them 1 star, I wasn’t looking forward to reading this one. Yet its now #4 on my top thrillers. The audiobook was well done and the plot twists were unexpected. We meet three siblings who are forced to come together when their mother tragically passes away. They uncover videotapes in their childhood home with secrets they never expected to find. In Home is Where the Bodies Are, the author writes about grief and how each member of the family deals with it. Grief is felt differently for everyone and it was interesting to read about it.
3. The Drowning Woman
This book is a true pager turner! Each part ends in a little cliffhanger so you have to keep reading to find out what happened. This made for a rough couple nights as I just couldn’t put the book down. In The Drowning Woman, we meet two women who are living complete opposite lives but are dealing with trauma in their own way. To learn more about what happens to these two women (and spoiler free), go read my blog post to learn more about the book and the characters.
2. What Lies in The Woods
This was one of my first books I read in 2025 and I still think about it to this day. In What Lies in the Woods, the author takes you through the lives of three teens who survived an attack by a serial killer. The guy was caught and sentenced to jail. Years later, the main character returns to her childhood home to face a new danger. See something else happened in those woods, a secret that can’t get it out. And you know what they say about secrets: two can keep a secret if one of them is dead (yes, I sang the song from the Pretty Little Liars theme song).
1. All the Dangerous Things
If you haven’t read my recent post about this book, you should go read it so you have a better idea of why I loved this book. This psychological thriller deals with a mother’s obsessive response to her missing child and the lengths she goes to find out where he is and who’s responsible. All the Dangerous Things is written in her point of view and you get an inside look into her mental stability due to her lack of sleep and childhood trauma. This was an instant page turner as the plot reveals just want happened to this missing child.
Thank you for reading! Were any of these books already on your TBR? Which one are you looking to add? Please comment your favorite thriller so I can add more book to my 2025 thriller list. Though I’m worried that if I read too many thrillers, I’ll be too good at guessing the plot twist.
