This Summer Will be Different by Carley Fortune
Five years ago, while vacationing in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Lucy meets Felix, a handsome local who can’t stop flirting with her. They start talking and one thing leads to another. Shows over when it turns out Felix is Lucy’s best friend’s brother. Bridget, Lucy’s best friend, has explicitly told Lucy three rules to follow when vacationing in PEI: “1. Eat your weigh in oysters. 2. Leave the city behind. 3. Do NOT fall in love with my brother”. However, the chemistry between them is unreal. Lucy tells Felix that this “thing” ends here and they’re never to do this again, especially since Lucy and Bridget live in Toronto. Now, they’re days away from Bridget’s wedding and suddenly Bridget needs to escape to PEI and begs Lucy to come with. Bridget is having a crisis and Lucy’s trying to stay away from Felix. What could possibly go wrong?
This is my first time listening to an audiobook by Carley Fortune. Since the book takes place in Canada, the narrator does a good job with the accent and it actually made me really want to visit PEI. I actually stopped listening to another audiobook because this caught my full attention right in the beginning. Why? Because one of my favorite tropes is: “don’t fall in love with me”. It’s like, come on, stop denying all that chemistry. While we only get 1 POV, we learn plenty about the other characters and how they feel for one another.
This was an absolute fun and adorable read. I really enjoyed the characters and their relationships. I was hooked right from the prologue. I was actually listening to another audiobook, but I stopped listening to that and listened to this instead.

Review on Fable
The romance is there; the yearning is there; the boundaries are crossed. This Summer Will Be Different is a fun and easy read. If you’re looking for a nice breather from suspenseful thrillers or 600+ page fantasies, this is the book to pick up. This reminds me of a fun Emily Henry or Abby Jimenez type book. So if you like those authors, this is the book for you.
