Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
I’ll be honest. I did not think I was going to like this after Iron Flame. The only reason I picked it up was because of the ending of Iron Flame and I needed to know what happens. I should note that you should NOT read this review if you haven’t read Fourth Wing or Iron Flame as I’ll be talking about them.
I realize I can’t say too much during this review of Onyx Storm so I’ll be sure to keep it brief. Iron Flame did not live up to my expectation after reading Fourth Wing. It lacked plot and there could have been 100 less pages without all the bickering from Xaden and Violet. So I was hesitant when buying the sequel. Well I ate my words.
Omg I loved it. It took me a while to finish but the last 10% as worth it. I need the next one like now!

Review on Fable
This was an adventure from start to finish! This exceeded my expectations and I will definitely continue reading the series. Yes, there were still banter between Xaden and Violet, however it wasn’t the main focus of the book; I’m looking at you Iron Flame.

At the end of Iron Flame, we see Violet’s mom, Lilith, die by siphoning her magic to save her children. Later, Violet sees Xaden’s eyes turn red and immediately knows they’re in BIG trouble; he’s now venin. Xaden had channelled from the earth to save Violet, a forbidden magical source. Was it worth it? Violet needs to find a way to stop Xaden from turning and also save her friends, but how?
Xaden is struggling to control his emotions making getting close to Violet nearly impossible. Violet is struggling with lying to her family and friends, trying to save Xaden, and controlling her power. This book was a slow ascend but worth it at the end. Yarros knows how to keep her readers interested and then punch them in the guy during the last 10% of the book. Now I just need her to write faster so we can read the 4th book of this series.
