Home is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose

Holy wow! If you’re looking for a suspenseful thriller that you can’t put down, then I definitely recommend reading Home is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose. I listened to the audiobook and it took me a little less than two days to finish the 8-hour book. AND we have multiple narrators which I love.

“This is one of the better books by Jeneva Rose. The twist was very well done and I really enjoyed the writing overall. The book dealt with grief really well. I could FEEL what the characters were feeling. I recommend it!

4 ⭐
Review on Fable

This is one of the better books by Jeneva Rose. This is my 4th book written by her that I’ve read. I read One of Us is Dead, You Shouldn’t Have Come Here and The Perfect Marriage; all of which I rated below 3 ⭐. The twists just didn’t hit right and some parts of the books were confusing. But I refused to give up on her!

I decided to give her another chance and I’m glad I did. This was by far her best book and the twist was devastating! Like I mentioned in my review above, this book dealt with the loss of a parent and how each of the main characters reacted towards the news. There is no right way to deal with grief so it was good to see the different reactions.

“Nothing brings people together like death.”

Story begins with Beth sitting with her mom, Laura, at a hospice in Wisconsin. With her dying breathe, Laura tells Beth, “Your father. He didn’t disappear. Don’t trust…“. Eh, what? Beth is stunned and doesn’t quite understand this unexpected revelation. Don’t trust whoooooo? Beth then calls her siblings, Nicole and Michael, to come back to their home town to lay their mother to rest. Confused by what her mother told her, Beth and her siblings start to uncover a deeper truth none of them are ready for. They find a set of videotapes that their mother recorded with damning evidence of the night Nicole’s childhood friend, Emma, went missing. Dun dun duunnnn!

Right in the beginning, we’re hit right in the feels and get an inkling of what’s to come. This book does not start slow. I was immediately pulled in and needed to know what happens. So if you need a quick audiobook (I like to read 2x), then you need to listen to this book.

There are more characters introduced in this book. However, then this list wouldn’t be spoiler-free.
